Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

The short version

Typemac collects almost nothing. Your keystrokes never leave your device. Your purchase email goes to Dodo Payments (our payment processor). That's it.

What we collect

  • Purchase data: When you buy Typemac, your email address and payment information are processed by Dodo Payments. We receive a license key and your email so we can send you the key.
  • Sound packs: On first launch with a new switch profile, Typemac downloads an audio zip file from our servers. We log standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, file requested). These are retained for 30 days and used only for debugging.
  • Nothing else. No analytics. No crash reports. No telemetry. No behavior tracking.

What we explicitly do NOT collect

  • The contents of your keystrokes (we never see what you type)
  • Which keys you press (we only detect that a keypress occurred, to trigger audio)
  • Screen contents or screenshots
  • Usage patterns or session data
  • Device identifiers beyond what's needed for license activation

Input Monitoring permission

Typemac requests Input Monitoring permission from macOS. This allows the app to detect keyboard events system-wide. The app uses this only to trigger audio playback — it does not record, transmit, or store any keystroke data. This is consistent with how similar Mac utilities (keyboard macros, typing speed trackers, etc.) operate.

License validation

On launch, Typemac makes a single HTTPS request to the Dodo Payments API to validate your license key. The request includes your license key only. No personally identifiable information is sent beyond what Dodo already holds from your purchase.

Third parties

Dodo Payments processes your purchase. See their privacy policy for details on how they handle payment data.

Data deletion

To delete your data, email hello@typemac.app. We'll remove your email and license record from our systems within 30 days.
